I want a new phone without breaking my contract, Verizon?

I have the Verizon CDM 8945 phone which i got almost 13 months ago, but it has been freezing lately and just acting weird. I do have warranty on that phone but i really want the Samsung SCH–u740 Black. The Verizon CDM 8945 is currently listed as free on the verizon site, does that mean there going to stop selling it? And if so is there a way I can get the Samsung phone by paying the difference or without break my contract by using my warranty to get it?

thanks everyone

If you want a new phone you may have an early upgrade option, but you need to call customer service to be sure. If you have completed 12+mths of serv and have been on a pp of more than 49.99(not including features) for the last 3 mths, then you may be eligible for the early upgrade. You can also go online to vzw.com and login to your online account. If you don%26#39;t have one you can click on register to open a free online account. Besides the only way to "break" your contract is by cancelling your service. You have a 1 year warranty on your phone if you purchased it from vzw and not a third party. Also the update(mentioned by the first answer) on your phone is recommended every 90 days and is done by *228 send opt 2. Option 1 is only if you need to reprogram your phoen. Good luck and I hope this info helps. It might just be a lower end phone, not that there is anything wrong with it (the new phone).

Try this with your old phone:

Enter *228%26lt;send%26gt; and select option 1. This will send the latest updates down to your phone. It will restart on its own when done. See if that helps.

Next, check out the local craigslist.org to see if someone is selling a phone you like. Verizon will need to configure you for that phone as VZW does not use SIM cards.

Last, ask VZW if they can help you get that new phone withouit paying full price. There may be an option there.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!
