I have tried turning off power saver. I have to hit directional buttons to get light again. Very annoying problem.

Most phones that I have seen/used, have a backlight adjustment menu. It should be located in the same general area or maybe even the same menu as where you turned off power saver mode. You can usually adjust it for 5, 10, 15 seconds, or continuously on (NOT recommended). have you tried changeing your display settings on the keybord switch to 10 or 20 seconds or always on i did that all phones have it. If u go 2 ur settings, u can change how long the backlight stays on 4 so change it 2 the highest.
