people who get out of their contract are people who have multiple drop calls and who have complained a lot. Another one that works is moving to a area where there is no Verizon service and only T-mobile. Or you can say you are going to study abroad and you can%26#39;t use your phone there. It%26#39;ll probably be best if your mother calls and tells them your gonna study abroad, or she can say your moving in with your father who is stationed in Germany and nobody will be using the phone. If you do that most likely they will disconnected with no penalty and you will lose your number. If you want to keep your number your mother has to activate the phone in her name because the billing info has to stay the same. sorry to say but not.if u cancel before ur contract...u gotta pay the fee.ur better off just sticking it out. why dont you just switch your phone to your mom since hers ending soon because theres no way verizon will let you not pay the $175 early termination fee. Then ask your mom if she would like to do that ... Nope, if you end your contract before the termination date, you have to pay the early termination fee. Your other alternative is to get the T-mobile account and pay both phone bills until the Verizon one expires, but then you%26#39;d also lose your Verizon # since you couldn%26#39;t have the same # on both phones and would have to get a new one for the T-mobile phone. It%26#39;s easy to do. Let her contract expire and then she can assume the remainder of yours. That way you%26#39;re off the hook to do what you want and she can port her old number onto your old account. If she wants to keep her old number she has to port it over before her contract expires. If not, then I guess she can get a new number.
If she doesn%26#39;t want to do that, it%26#39;s cheaper to just pay the $175 than to continue the length of the contract. The early termination fee is to pay for the phone. They figure they will make up the cost of the phone within the contract period. When you end early they want that cost.
If you are on a family plan it may be cheaper to keep paying the extra $10 per month. Switching contracts as others have recommended can cost $30 to transfer the number. You will have to calculate the best option.
