Best place to go is into the store, and get one of the tech geeks to get their reader out and show it to you. It will be a reader that will copy the contacts from SIM to SIM but they also make one for SIM to PC. It think the devices cost about $15.
They can also get a data cable for you - at some cost - not sure how much.
