It sounds as if your Computer is a few years old. However,your local store will supply you with a small adapter,for you to get the connection that you require! Perhaps you have the wrong cable.....thought all usb%26#39;s were the same at the computer end. Depending on what model it should look like one of these

it sounds like your PC is quite old ? are you saying that it does%26#39;nt have a USB port ?
IF it does%26#39;nt you shoud get a PCI USB card which ou insert into a PCI slot - this will give ou the required ports... you usuay get these cards for under ￡10 on eBay.
